Lofoten Seaweed Harvesting by RIB Boat

Seaweed is a sustainable and healthy source of food and thanks to one of the world’s strongest tidal currents there’s an abundance of it in Lofoten. With our partners from Lofoten Seaweed, we would like to introduce you to the world of seaweed by wild-harvesting it from the icy waters together with you.

The tour will start with meeting your guide at Å Rorbuer restaurant. From here on, you are in our professionals' hands. The guide will prepare you for the tour, and before heading out to the seaweed harvesting shores by RIB boat, you will be dressed in a dry suit to withstand the icy waters of the Norwegian Sea. This suit will keep the water from reaching your body so you can float through the water to harvest the seaweed. Our licensed guide will take you to a beautiful and secluded spot and explain the different seaweed species and the rich ecosystem that lies beneath the water. Going out by RIB boat also gives you the opportunity to see the Lofoten Archipelago from the sea. There’s even a chance that you will spot a Norwegian sea eagle or some arctic porpoises!

After harvesting the seaweed and arriving back at Å you will put your goods to dry and will be served a warm meal made from freshly harvested seaweed at our Brygga Restaurant. In addition, you will also be given a gift box of seaweed salt harvested from the seaweed here in Lofoten.
